My Pretties

Going to NYC tomorrow for 2 days with three of my best friends and my potential new best friend. Anybody want to hang out? Are there any good shows? Vegan food? Down for anything, up for everything.

Hi Everyone,

How are your Christmas plans coming along? I've been working on Christmas gifts. I'm about halfway there. Because I'm poor and I just like to make things, I decided this year to make jigsaw puzzle mats for my brothers and sister and their families. (Can't remember where I got directions--maybe here? I found these, but they're not the same. I can post directions later if anyone is interested.) Since I'm almost finished with the mats, it occurred to me that I could possibly give them out at Thanksgiving. My sister is against it, but I'm still thinking that I want to go with Thanksgiving.

Here is my thinking:

For:
  1. Most of my family will be gathered for Thanksgiving, where as at Christmas, I'll only be seeing people on a hit or miss basis.
  2. A jigsaw is a fun, inexpensive family activity for the holiday season, especially if I can get everyone Christmas puzzles.
  3. Kids get so many toys at Christmas that a jigsaw puzzle and mat will instantly become an obsolete and tired gift.
Against
  1. Gifts are for Christmas, and you spoil the fun giving them at other times.
  2. My family already thinks I'm weird about Christmas and gifts because I tried to force things too much when I was younger.
  3. Really this is about me, I want to see their reactions and I want them to enjoy my gift even if it is a somewhat humdrum gift.
So what do you think?
