Hi Everyone,
How are your Christmas plans coming along? I've been working on Christmas gifts. I'm about halfway there. Because I'm poor and I just like to make things, I decided this year to make jigsaw puzzle mats for my brothers and sister and their families. (Can't remember where I got directions--maybe here? I found
these, but they're not the same. I can post directions later if anyone is interested.) Since I'm almost finished with the mats, it occurred to me that I could possibly give them out at Thanksgiving. My sister is against it, but I'm still thinking that I want to go with Thanksgiving.
Here is my thinking:
For:
- Most of my family will be gathered for Thanksgiving, where as at Christmas, I'll only be seeing people on a hit or miss basis.
- A jigsaw is a fun, inexpensive family activity for the holiday season, especially if I can get everyone Christmas puzzles.
- Kids get so many toys at Christmas that a jigsaw puzzle and mat will instantly become an obsolete and tired gift.
Against
- Gifts are for Christmas, and you spoil the fun giving them at other times.
- My family already thinks I'm weird about Christmas and gifts because I tried to force things too much when I was younger.
- Really this is about me, I want to see their reactions and I want them to enjoy my gift even if it is a somewhat humdrum gift.
So what do you think?
